The Call- The Vision-The Provision
I was asked of God to build a fence.
He placed in my hand a hammer. I began to swing the hammer about into the air anxious to be about His request.
After days of hammering, I fell into despair.
"Why so downcast?" God asked.
I have been hammering for days and I have failed You. I have been unable to build the fence that You asked of me.
"You have not failed Me" He answered. Then handed me a nail.
My heart was overjoyed. I took my hammer and proceeded to hit the nail. Over and over, day after day I hit the nail with the hammer, but to no avail.
Again, I fell into despair.
"Why so downcast?" God asked once again.
I have taken the hammer that You placed in my hand and have been hammering the nail that You gave me. But I have been unable to build the fence that You asked of me. I have failed You!
"You have not failed me" He answered. "Come, sit beside me and rest awhile".
As we sat together I pondered in my heart why God would not be anxious for me to be about building the fence he had asked of me.
After a period of time I even thought to myself "has He forgotten that He had asked? or did I misunderstand Him?"
As we sat each day together, I noticed trees growing in a distance. When they reached a certain maturity they were cut and milled.
Before too long I could see lumber in abundant stacks.
God saw my puzzlement.
He then said "The Hammer was The Call that I placed on your heart.
The Nail was The Vision. The Lumber, My Provision. I called..you answered by accepting the hammer that I placed in your hand. I then cast the Vision. When you grasped the nail you took hold of the Vision.
All that was missing was My Provision...The lumber. My Provision is always entwined within My perfect Timing."
He then looked at me and said
We Can begin"
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5
We have all experienced moving in a river of activity one moment and then a still quiet pool of water the next.
We are so programmed to believe that productivity means activity. As we draw closer to the heart of God we begin to realize that each of His seasons carry fruit. One of the most productive seasons of a tree or plant is what is happening beneath the soil. It is drawing nourishment and inspiration of what it shall be from the nutrients within the very soil.
We can be encouraged that no matter what activity level we may be experiencing now, God Himself is placing all the nutrients we will require within the soil of those experiences. Providing the perfect nourishment for the season to come.
Be at peace, be blessed, as you wait upon The Lord and partake in His nourishment!
...lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and
He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5
What a comfort in this broken world to know that He will always be our WAY!
Brokenness occurs. I believe it is because of a world who has rejected God. The
men and women going about their daily activities and life giving no
"divine" thought to the consequences of living outside the knowledge or
the will of God.
Though brokenness was humanities choice and has also become a consequence
of our choice, it is within this brokenness that He meets us most potently, most
gloriously. And if we hearken it is where His power can be most felt and reflected
within our soul. Brokenness then becomes the very opposite in Gods hand. It is
Him binding us up and reclaiming His position in our lives.
It has been a wonderful year and I am excited to see what God has prepared next for 2017. As the new year approaches I pray that He saturates you home, family, mind, heart and businesses with His Glory!
